Art Cannot Be Reinvented

No one has invented art. During all the centuries of the existence of human beings art has been part of life itself; that is why art cannot be reinvented.

Something different is that the different ways of expressions have been classified and named.

At the moment when art loses its purity and falls in the hands of speculators and manipulators that prostitute it with the only aim of making money, and they dictate which are the goodnesses or evilnesses of art, that is the moment when art is no longer art and it becomes business. We can’t impose the way in which artists express themselves according to the fashions or demands of the market, that market that they, the art merchants, have created to their own benefit, therefore killing real art. That art that accompanies the artist in his way of expression, fully freely presenting himself independent of all form and fund, together with that unity created between the artist and the work, having no interference from the outside that will make him change his path; a path which he will walk always united to the works he will carry out, using his senses and the gift he has been awarded, with the obligation of remaining loyal to himself and to all of those that will someday admire his work. There is no old or new work neither “out of fashion” nor current work, but there is good or bad work. And if we transfer this theory to painting, I shall say that one can paint a beautiful potato and an awful nude; with this I mean that the motif is secondary, though there are some more attractive than others; the motif is neither old nor past, or modern and trendy, but it is just that… a motif, which the painter chooses each time to express himself with full freedom, without having the path signalled so he follows it to be in the current trend. That that is not trendy? That is false! That is the wave “they” manipulate and call modernism because of material and “market” interests.

Modern is all that is being done currently in art; something different is whether that is good or bad.

What manipulators cannot do is to dictate the trends that correspond to the different centuries. But, it is the role of art historians to analyze the evolution of art in time, as well as the artists that have marked an era with their art, because the evolution of mankind, since its origins, has always been united to art. Art is life itself and artists are the instruments that realize those works that have always accompanied us during centuries.
